The North Country Alliance supports economic development legislative priorities such as “weighted” regional cost indices, benchmarks for qualifying businesses to meet that go beyond number of jobs created, high-tech/manufacturing job training incentives, investment in green jobs, and incentives to businesses to build/upgrade energy efficient infrastructure. The North Country Alliance lends its support to the regional councils and urges the Governor and Legislature to re-establish the North Country ESD Regional Office. The North Country Alliance supports the Power for Jobs program extension and its permanent replacement with "Recharge NY". The North Country Alliance supports the repeal of the cost recovery tax on IDAs. The North Country Alliance is encouraged by and supports the Governor's suggested appropriations for tourism promotion and New York State branding. The North Country Alliance calls for the repeal of the business tax credit deferral. The North Country Alliance supports the continued operation of the Department of Corrections facilities in the North Country.
