The Crane School of Music at Potsdam brings a broad spectrum of musical events to the area. Lake Placid's Olympic Center attracts world-class ice skating competitions, concerts and a variety of other live performances and events.

The North Country is home to ten institutions of higher education. The State University of New York operates four-year colleges at Plattsburgh and Potsdam with programs in the arts and sciences. Internationally known private schools in the North Country are Clarkson University in Potsdam and St. Lawrence University in Canton. Two-year colleges include Canton College of Technology, community colleges in Plattsburgh, Watertown and Saranac Lake, as well as private schools, Mater Dei College in Ogdensburg, and Paul Smiths College near Saranac Lake. |
