Highways
- Interstate-81 (North-South) passes through the western portion of the region, connecting with the New York State Thruway at Syracuse, and points south. Hwy 401 serves major population and industrial centers in Canada and is also directly linked to I-81 via the Thousand Islands Bridge.
- Interstate-87 (The Adirondack Northway) serves the eastern part of the North Country and accesses the New York Metropolitan area, New England and Montreal.
- State highways provide easy access within the North Country.
Rail Service
- Commercial rail service is provided by CONRAIL, with daily service from Montreal to Syracuse.
Air Service
- Five Airports serve the region, offering scheduled air service to major international airports.
Water Transport
- Shipping across on the St. Lawrence Seaway is provided through the Port of Ogdensburg.
- The Champlain Canal provides a direct water route for barge traffic from Plattsburgh to New York City.
